This KTM performance dirt bike transmission was brought to ISO Finishing by a custom bike builder with a simple request to have all parts deburred and polished. The final polish consisted of a micro cross-hatch finish which increased smoothness of shifting without increasing heat output.

There is magic to be found in this cast dagger of solid silver. Sent to ISO Finishing by the renowned Daggermeister himself, this custom dagger was in need of casting line removal and a full polish. The beauty of the final finish was compounded by the massive compressive stress gains and improved edge quality following CBF processing.

In preparation for thin film coating, this long barrel was cut, pre polished and polished. The resulting finish created better coating adhesion and increased corrosion resistance.

Castings are one of the most cost effective means of producing parts with complex geometries. An aftermarket automotive accessories manufacturer wanted to remove some of the casting inconsistencies from the overall profile of these aluminum castings while easing the edges. The final polished surface was achieved using multiple plastic medias to smooth while maintaining the “rough” characteristics of the product.

David Burrell of Canny Designs brought the QuickIT™ to the team at ISO Finishing to help create the perfect surface for his cord attachment and storage tool. Made from aluminum in the USA, these hard-working tools are both radiused and polished to ensure smooth edges and surfaces for any outdoor activity such as camping, hiking and fishing.

Top Fuel and Funny Cars can reach speeds of more than 300 MPH on a 1,000 foot run in less than 4 seconds. The components within these cars require perfection. This final gear was descaled and full polished prior to DLC coating. Utilizing multiple processing steps and media types resulted in a perfectly prepared surface and allowed for a better adhesion layer of the DLC coating.

The lever action rifle is an icon of the American west and a testament to the reliability and simplicity of its design. Widely used across the firearm industry, injection molded parts typically require parting line removal, radiused edges and polishing prior to firearm assembly. Our customized CBF solutions accomplished all 3 processes while also creating uniformity, improving part quality and increasing safety.

The food industry relies on stainless steel for its corrosion resistance, strength and durability. While easy to clean and sterilize, a smooth surface finish also lessens the chances for bacteria growth and cross-contamination. This industrial mixing hook required scale removal prior to polishing. A customized process resulted in a surface finish that was ready to knead the dough.

Additive manufacturing and 3D printing has evolved greatly in the past decade. Enhanced printing technologies allow for 3D printing in metals such as titanium and stainless steel. These test turbine segments were studied for part fatigue and failure following the removal of build scale, radiusing and polishing.

OEM’s have worked hand in hand with manufacturers across all industries to streamline the production of critical components and assemblies. In the example shown here, an agricultural spraying equipment manufacturer outsourced the 316 stainless steel nozzles to a company specializing in investment casting and machining. To remove the residual casting lines, machining burrs and scale, ISO Finishing designed a multiple step process to ensure the component meets all design and performance criteria. The resulting mirror finish turns the part into a finished product.

Gloves like these are familiar to many in the State of Hockey. Local artist Ben Awes was commissioned to create 3D replicas of a customers game worn hockey gloves. After creating an exact 3D model, the gloves were 3D printed in stainless steel. A multi-step process refined print lines and polished the gloves to a mirror finish.

The welding scale on this 2 piece OEM assembly was no match for ISO Finishing’s surface finishing experts. Drawing on more than 35 years of metal and surface finishing experience, the customized finishing solution resulted in a descaled and mirror finished part ready for assembly.

While a quick and economical option, products created by casting methods typically require deflashing or descaling before use. The final finish on these investment cast beverage dispenser levers was the result of multi-step CBF processing included removing the casting scale before achieving the full final polish.
